The Celebration is Indeed a Celebration!!!

The Celebration by Wanda Brunstetter is the third book in the series The Amish Cooking Class. Lyle and Heidi have taken in young siblings whose parents have passed away in a car accident. In hopes to increase the kids’ social circles, Heidi offers a cooking class to children.

The students are a little different in this book, two children whose parents are separated, a son of a single parent father, a daughter of a singe parent mom, and a young girl who is spoiled.
Heidi has to approach this class differently as she is not only teaching children to cook, but also providing support through her Bible verses to the families. It was great to see how Lyle and Heidi along with the other families assisted each other when in need.

It was great to see Kendra and baby Heidi back in the story along with the new marriage of friends.
As always, it is easy to root for Lyle and Heidi. I was very excited that they had found a family and was eager to see if they would be able to adopt. I hope there is…

Devotions for the Hungry Heart: Chasing Jesus Six Days from Sunday left me full and longing for more!

Devotions for the Hungry Heart by Shellie Rushing Tomlinson is not date based so one can start at any time. This was exciting for me as I did not receive it on January 1. Another great feature of this 20 week devotional is that it runs from Monday – Saturday with devotionals for those who seek God every day of the week. Honestly, I do find myself wishing there was a Sunday devotional but that is because I am enjoying Shellie’s stories so much. The headings are continuous throughout the book and all based on a Hungry Heart. Mondays focus on surrendered hearts, Tuesdays on intentional hearts, Wednesday on a praying heart, Thursday on a celebrating heart, Friday on a needy heart, and Saturday on a sharing heart. Each devotional includes a great story from the author’s personal life and ends with a correlation to the scriptures and a Bible verse.
The Bible verse has given me a great start to jump right into the scriptures for a daily reading. The author has added several recipes with pictu…

Kappy “Kathryn” King is the kapp maker and odd ball in her district. Upon returning home from a shopping trip, she find her front door painted blue, the color that meant she was single and looking for a husband. No doubt in her mind, she knows that her neighbor, Jimmy, is to blame.
Jimmy, a young man with Down’s Syndrome, lives with his mother, Ruth Peachey, across the road from Kappy. They bred Beagles and rent out their land to other Amish farmers. Upon going to confront Jimmy about her blue door, she discovers Jimmy crying over his mother’s dead body.
Jimmy’s shunned sister, Edie, returns home in time for her mother’s funeral.  During the funeral, the police show up to arrest poor Jimmy. Edie and Kappy make it their mission to solve the murder and free Jimmy.
This book was the perfect mix of humor and suspense. I defin…
